The trickiest moment in any hiring process is the salary negotiation.

Eleven years and five jobs of being on the candidate side, then sixteen years and several hundred hires of being on the hiring side, I can say this confidently: there is always a range. You need to find it.

The right negotiation is one where both parties feel good when it is done. Not just one. The relationship has to last after the offer letter is signed.

If you are the candidate, do not feel bad asking. Asking is itself a signal of the kind of operator you will be inside the company.
